Murphy's Lore Too
'Murphy's Lore Too' (previously, A Half of Murphy's) consists of Noeleen and Alex performing as a duo. Noeleen plays guitar, whistle, and bodhran but is best known for her vocal abilities, drawing on her Irish heritage to sing songs learnt as a child at the knee of her accordion playing father,
whilst Alex accompanies her on guitar/ tenor guitar, some backing vocals and occasionally the mandolin, having returned to his folk roots after a brief fling with rock music in his youth!
Or you could one better with Murphys Lore Trio a meeting of Murphys Lore Too with the addition of local folk singer and fiddler Steve Faulkner
for an upbeat folk trio.
BH Sound and Lighting Hire Wimborne based company, suppling equipment and engineers to a wide variety of venues and events in Dorset, Somerset, Wiltshire, Hampshire & London and can provide equipment to festivals, weddings, birthday parties, theatre productions, live music and events.
Bournemouth Folk Club Paul Burke started the club and ran it for many years at various venues. It went through a few format changes and Paul stepped down a few years back to concentrate on Purbeck Valley Folk Festival ( see below). The reins have been taken on by Neil King of FATEA fame and Alan 'Pops' Ball. The club will be running from The Trinity Centre in Ringwood.
Our best local folk festival Purbeck Valley Folk Festival, run by Cath Burke, her Dad Paul and the rest of the family aiding and abetting too. A marvellous festival overlooking Corfe Castle , nestled in the valley in the Purbecks near Harmans Cross. This is a truly great festival perfect for all the family. Murphy's Lore Trio have appeared on a number of occasions and both Steve and Noeleen are regular comperes.
Milford on Sea Folk Club Organised by Sue Whitlock, and hosted by Bill Hesp, this is a great venue that offers acoustic music with a lovely friendly atmosphere and 'good ears'.
Brunny Folk Run by Karen Laird, who is also back on the team at Wimborne Minster Folk Festival - also hosted by Bill Hesp. Another great little venue at The Cafe at The Allendale.
Our most local folk festival Wimborne Minster Folk Festival, organised by Brian, Polly and the team that run Cafe at The Allendale. This years line up is fantastic. The Allendale centre is the hub of the festival
